Is Apple working on Virtual Reality glasses?

The news comes from The Information, a well-known platform for sharing technology news. This information was made public after the release of a report that allegedly gathers some details about this new gadget.

Apple Virtual Reality Glasses: What We Already Know

The information is still recent but already brings a series of interesting details. The report says that the new Virtual Reality glasses could arrive as early as 2022—equipped with a range of cutting-edge features.

Everything indicates that the headset will feature 12 cameras to monitor movements, as well as two high-resolution 8K displays. The idea is that the user, in addition to playing games, can also see images from the "outside." A mixed effect that, if realised, will be a major innovation in the field.

Along with Time to Walk, this will be another immersive experience created by Apple. The Information goes further by confirming that it saw a very advanced prototype of these Virtual Reality glasses.

The visor, which will be curved—to adapt to the user's face—features silicone headbands that adjust to the back of the head. Apparently, there will be two types of such "bands": one that integrates surround sound and another with an extra battery if needed.

But it's likely there will be more, even in various colours. An image that Apple has maintained over the years—and which it also included in the AirPods Max.

Apple Competes with Microsoft

If the launch of these Virtual Reality glasses is confirmed, Apple will clearly be competing with Microsoft. This is, without a doubt, another of the companies with the greatest weight in the market and which, in fact, already has its headset on sale.

The HoloLens 2 is the gadget produced by Microsoft, which has been well received by users. We will have to wait and see if the competition will be significant.

The HoloLens 2 costs $3,500. According to the same report, the initial price of the Apple glasses should be around $3,000. If the rumour is confirmed, the apple brand will start competing immediately with a lower price.
