iPhone 15 and 15 Pro: the most expensive iPhones ever?

Apple Inc. is reportedly curbing its year-on-year iPhone shipment volume, planning to boost revenue by increasing prices for the iPhone 15 Pro variants, according to rumors from undisclosed sources.

In the years leading up to the COVID pandemic and the current chip shortage affecting China, the number of iPhones produced annually typically hovered around 90 million units. However, facing these challenges over the past two years, the tech giant reduced its orders to approximately 85 million units, and Bloomberg confirms that this number will remain the target for 2023.

These allegedly reliable rumors about the tech giant's plans align with recent speculation that the iPhone 15 Pro Max could be the most expensive iPhone ever launched.

The same sources also reported that Apple's order structure with its manufacturer underwent minor changes, with the company planning to produce two million fewer units of its more affordable model. This reduction, reportedly related to manufacturing difficulties with Sony's innovative CMOS sensor, which will be integrated into the cameras of the new generation of iPhones, could impact the selling price of the iPhone 15 and consequently boost demand for the Pro models.

Recent reports have also highlighted minor complications with the new displays intended for the iPhone 15 Pro. However, Bloomberg indicates that these issues should be resolved quickly, without causing any disruption to the final shipment volume or delivery times.

Nonetheless, these claims remain speculation until confirmed by the brand, as the detailed revelation of all prices and specifications will only occur during its presentation in September 2023.
