Apple Self Service Repair: you can now repair your iPhone at home

The service is new and will begin testing on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. If all goes well, it has everything to be successful in other products. But, for now, Apple Self Service Repair focuses only on the brand's latest models.

The company announced the news recently and already plans to extend the service to MacBooks equipped with M1 chips. Apparently, the novelty will be launched in 2022, in the US. Throughout the year, the brand promises to extend the possibility to more countries.

That's what Apple wants with its Self Service Repair. The service will be made available to authorized Apple partners and other independent ones. In total, thousands of stores are expected to be involved in the process.

In fact, these entities will receive components such as manuals, tools, and parts; all ready to repair iPhones — and, in the future, computers like the MacBook Pro 14 and 16.

Apple Self Service Repair will work in different phases. Initially, the repair service will focus on repairing and/or replacing three components of the iPhone 12 and 13:

  • Display;
  • Battery;
  • Camera.

This means that, when you have a problem with any of these components, you can go to one of the stores chosen by Apple to ask for the parts you need.

However, Apple Self Service Repair will not stop there. Throughout 2022, other components will be added to the program — depending on the phase the service is in.
