Apple lidera mercado global de smartphones - ISELL & REPAIR

Apple leads global smartphone market

Although most technology companies are in decline, and Apple has not been immune to the downturns, the US giant led by Tim Cook continues to be a leader in the global smartphone market.

Although worldwide smartphone shipments fell by more than 9% in the third quarter of 2022, according to information from IDC, data recently released by Apple shows that the company has a market value of 2307 billion dollars. This statistic already includes most of the global sales of the new iPhone 14.

Another relevant fact is that Apple's market value in China reached record highs this quarter, with a 25% share of the smartphone market, mainly due to the success of the new iPhone.

Apple's global market value increases

In Portugal, Apple is the only one to register an increase in sales

In Portugal, according to data, smartphone distribution registered a drop of more than 25% in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021, translating into 520,000 units placed in stores for customers. Of the five main brands in the national market, only Apple registered growth, albeit minimal. With a growth of 0.4%, the American giant maintains second place in market share with 16.9%. 88,000 smartphones were put on sale in Portuguese stores.

The leadership of the Portuguese market continues to be held by Samsung, with a 48.5% share. Even so, the 252,500 distributed smartphone units recorded a drop of 12.7% compared to the same period in 2021. The biggest drops in the market were for Xiaomi (59.7%) and Oppo (53.5%).

What is contributing to Apple's success?

Despite the difficulties related to the delays in the production of the new iPhone 14, the truth is that the launch of the new model was very successful among users and contributed to Apple's success in 2022. But it is impossible to deny that the brand's computer line has also allowed it to remain at the top of the list, as rivals in this specific segment registered a drop in sales.

In addition to being a leader in the smartphone market, the Apple Watch continues to dominate in smartwatches and TWS headphones, having substantially increased its already strong leadership in the last quarter of 2022, as Samsung, in second place, saw sales of Galaxy Buds fall by about 25%.
