So, what are MagSafe accessories and what are they for?
MagSafe accessories have just been launched as complements to the iPhone 12. Essentially, these accessories combine mounting and charging systems simultaneously.
In other words, this means you can now charge your iPhone while it's docked in any holder. But there's (much) more to this new concept.
MagSafe: what it means
"Mag" comes from "Magnet". It's through a series of new electronic components, installed inside the iPhone, that the system is built—allowing for greater security and contributing to maintaining the battery life of the smartphone.
The system was built with the "sweet spot" of connection between the iPhone and a wireless charging station in mind. With MagSafe, when you connect your smartphone to this station, you ensure that the iPhone is never poorly connected.
The truth is, this happens more often than it should. It is very common that, even if it doesn't seem like it, iPhones end up poorly connected to the station—which drastically reduces their charging speed.
Now, the magnetic elements included in the new MagSafe accessories ensure safe and fast charging.

MagSafe accessories
Apple has launched a differentiated range of MagSafe accessories. Among them are protective cases, wallets (that "stick" to the back of the iPhone), and wireless chargers.
For the first time, the brand did not release the iconic leather cases, but has already promised that these will arrive soon. For now, many colors in silicone already include MagSafe technology.
There are also transparent ones for those who prefer them. What, however, remained in leather were the wallets—perfect for carrying notes or cards, without the risk of them demagnetizing.
MagSafe compatibility
For now, MagSafe accessories are only available for the new iPhone 12 models, which means that refurbished iPhones are not compatible with this technology.
Apple has not yet made any confirmation, so we have to wait and see if the accessories will cover previous models of the brand. What is confirmed is that, from now on, charging is much safer, faster, and preserves the iPhone's battery life.
