After launching the iPhone 12, Apple unveiled its biggest secret of 2020: a speaker that is, essentially, the personal assistant you need to have at home. The HomePod comes in two different sizes and can be much more than a speaker—mainly because of its integration with Siri.
Apple even suggests that this smart speaker can very well work as a sound system. To do this, you just need to place several of these speakers in one or more rooms of the house.
Because, in addition to being able to listen to your favorite playlist whenever you want, you can also talk to Siri at any time. By asking Apple's personal assistant to play a song on all speakers, you'll be surprised by the immersive sound created.
The HomePod is already available, but the HomePod mini will only arrive in November.
The world at the distance of a "Hey, Siri"
The new HomePods bring together several functionalities in one gadget—much like, for example, the Apple One. In addition to being a sound speaker, both models offer integration with Siri, Apple's personal assistant.
In other words, this means you can access practically everything you use on your iPhone (even if it's refurbished) without even picking it up. Of course, you can also use other brand devices, such as the iPad, Apple TV, or Mac.
You just need to say "Hey, Siri" to get her attention and ask for anything from your favorite music to the directions you need to get to that new restaurant.
If you already have a smart system installed at home, you can also pair it with the HomePod. That way, you just need to ask Siri to turn off the light and resume the series you were watching.
Oh, and don't worry about recordings. The HomePod encrypts all conversations you have with Siri, thus ensuring your privacy.
