Apple leads the way with a new Artificial Intelligence Assistant in iOS 18

Apple is about to revolutionise the way students and remote workers manage information with the launch of new AI-powered audio transcription and summarisation features. Expected later this year with iOS 18, macOS 15, and iPadOS 18, these capabilities will be integrated into essential applications such as Notes and Voice Memos.

The focus of these innovations is to increase efficiency, allowing for real-time transcriptions and automatic audio summaries. For example, the Voice Memos app will offer continuous transcription of recordings, while the Notes app will incorporate a new transcription button to directly convert recorded audio into text.

These features are especially advantageous for students who can record and summarise lectures and classes directly into their notes, avoiding reliance on external tools. Professionals who regularly participate in video call meetings will also find them very helpful, as Apple's AI promises to structure information into summaries, highlighting key points and actions to be taken.

In addition to increasing productivity, Apple guarantees the accuracy of the information, keeping the original audio alongside the transcribed text and the AI-generated summary to avoid loss of information. These new features are part of a larger effort by Apple to integrate AI functionalities into iOS, thus competing with third-party applications that already use similar technology.

The launch of the new iOS is scheduled to coincide with Apple's annual developer conference (WWDC), where the brand is also expected to introduce improvements to applications such as Calendar and Calculator.
